\nToday was our travel day. Not much to report about the trip, other than our delay in Indianapolis due to weather was offset by an equal delay in our connecting flight in Atlanta. No worries !<\/p>\n

\nWe had fun with the talkative but hard to understand cabbie, and quickly got settled in our top floor room at the Omni Royal Orleans. Not a big room, but comfortable and well appointed.<\/p>\n

After a quick consultation with the concierge, we walked across the street to the Royal House Oyster Bar for appetizers and drinks. Kelly tried charbroiled oysters (delicious), while I sampled the crawfish cakes (also delicious). Our table was placed in one of the many doors open to the sidewalk, which gave us a prime location for people watching, as folks were walking by just a couple of feet away.

\nI thought I would stop a passerby and ask him to take a photo. Just then, a gentleman I know from past conferences walked by. We had a nice chat, and he snapped this photo.

While we were eating, a scruffy hippie looking dude stopped in front of our table and looked around nervously while he reached into his bag and pulled out a shirt that was just as ratty looking as the one he was wearing. He changed shirts next to my plate of crawfish, and then took off down the street. He must have been running from someone. <\/p>\n

A little while later, an “occupy” protest group came marching down the street. I couldn’t really read their signs, but they seemed to be having fun. Kelly may share some photos later.

We spent some time walking down Royal Street and visiting art galleries, before ending up at Oceana for dessert. I had a hurricane that was much better than the powdered drink mix thy serve at Pat O’Brien’s. <\/p>\n
